Everyone attending the fair in Hamburg must see the butterfly exhibit located next to the Conservation building.  It’s an aviary containing 600 Monarch butterflies and it’s wonderful!

The exhibit is free but for $1 you can feed the butterflies nectar.  Watching the butterfly feed from they feeding stick they provide or on one of the flowers in the aviary is a truly amazing experience.

For $10 you can take a butterfly with you to release at home.  They limit the number of butterflies released to 50 a day, but you can capture one early in the day and they will hold it for you to pick up later.

Released my butterfly this morning

She took off into the spruce tree two doors down.  Hopefully she’ll be lucky in love and lay her eggs in my neighborhood.
